Defoe Shipbuilding Company of Bay City, MI was founded in 1905. It built a wide-array of ships including: small, surface combatants and auxiliary ships for the U.S. Navy. It also built Charles F. Adams class guided missile destroyers for the US and the Royal Australian Navies, as well as FF-1037 Bronstein-class frigates.
