Asbestos-Related Lung Cancer
It is an accepted fact that lung cancer can be caused by asbestos and cigarette smoking. The combination of these two factors significantly increases the risk for developing lung cancer, more so than exposure to one of these factors alone.
It has been found that workers in asbestos filled industries are about 90 times more likely to develop lung or asbestos related cancers than people who do not smoke and have no asbestos exposure.
Lung cancer can be found through a common X-ray, a biopsy, or an operation. Any of these procedures can locate cancer cells and lead to a diagnosis of cancer. If asbestos exposure is a factor in the development of the cancer, any other cancer cells in the body can be attributed or related to asbestos.
