Robert Sweeney
Attorney Sweeney graduated from the University of Connecticut School of Law with honors in 1977. Following private practice in Danbury, he joined the Office of the Public Defender in 1979. He worked as public defender until December of 1986, at which time he joined Attorney Early's firm. During Attorney Sweeney's tenure as a public defender, he tried a number of major felony cases to jury verdict and participated in the defense of a death penalty case.
He has argued appeals before the Connecticut Supreme Court and two before the Appellate Court. One of the cases argued before the Connecticut Supreme Court involved complex product liability issues. He practices in the areas of personal injury and criminal defense litigation. His most recent trial to verdict was a product liability case arising out of a defective staple gun, Hoey vs. Stanley Bostitch, J. D. Fairfield (December, 1995).
