Portland Shipyard
Portland Shipyard (PSY) is owned and operated by Cascade General. It is the largest and most complete ship repair facility on west coast. The facility lies on a 60-acre plot of land, connected to the Pacific Ocean by the Columbia/Willamette shipping channel. In 1942, Henry Kaiser pioneered modern, modular, shipbuilding at PSY almost overnight to meet the war effort.
Cascade General continues to modernize the facility at PSY, taking full advantage of its size and capacity; Dry Dock 4 is the largest floating drydock in the Americas (982' long with a capacity of 87,000 tons), as well, there are the Panamax (114' wide) Dry Dock 3, and Dry Dock 1, which serves smaller craft. There are 17 Whirley cranes in operation, 550,000 square feet of covered craft shops, and a 200,000 barrel, ballast-water, treatment plant.
