Effective Wednesday, August 19, 2026, the Trustees of the Owens-Illinois Asbestos Personal Injury Trust announced a payment percentage increase from 50% to 65%. The Trust was established to handle claims related to asbestos exposure from Owens-Illinois, Inc.

Section 4.2 of the Trust Distribution Procedures allows the Trustee to adjust the payment percentage to reflect updated projections about claims, available assets, and future costs to ensure fair compensation across all claimants.

Claimants who were previously paid at a lower percentage may receive a supplemental payment that equals the difference between the amount they already received and the amount they would have received under the new, higher percentage.

Owens-Illinois manufactured and sold asbestos-containing pipe covering and block insulation under the brand name, Kaylo, which exposed workers to asbestos and increased the risk of developing mesothelioma.
