The Maremont Asbestos Personal Injury Trust announced an increase in its payment percentage from 28.4% to 34%, effective with the September 2026 payment of claims. The asbestos trust fund was established to compensate eligible asbestos claims involving exposure to asbestos-containing automotive products manufactured by Maremont Corporation and its subsidiaries.

The Trustees periodically review and adjust the payment percentage based on available assets, projected claims, and other financial considerations. This helps preserve funds to provide fair compensation to current and future claimants.

Under the Trust Distribution Procedures (TDP), claimants previously paid at the 28.4% payment percentage will receive supplemental payments, subject to certain exceptions. These payments account for the difference between the previous payment percentage and the new, increased rate.

Maremont manufactured and distributed asbestos-containing automotive friction products, including brake linings and clutch components. Workers exposed to asbestos from these products faced an increased risk of developing mesothelioma and other asbestos-related diseases.
